We ponder what vulnerability means in the world today. Is it a weakness or a strength? Does it mean not being "tough enough" to face the challenges the world throws at us? Does crying always mean that we are fearful and afraid?
What if being vulnerable means showing up authentically and completely in our power? Having access to the full range of our emotions. Expressing our complete and connected spirit.
Being vulnerable is essential to showing up embracing our Authentic Self. Without it, we are concealing a significant part of ourselves. We are hiding our true selves.
Dr. John Medina in Brain Rules speaks of how our brains were developed to solve complex problems related to our survival, being in near constant motion and constantly changing weather conditions. Nearly nothing about learning and living triggers these parts of our brains today. How might we reclaim this essential part of being human?
In our long evolutionary history, being separated from the pack triggered mortal fear. Without our Vital Connection to the collective, we would likely perish. This was turned on its head with the shift of focus on the success of the individual rather than the collective. In the current political climate, being a part of a collective is viewed as a weakness.
How does this change our sense of what it means to be vulnerable? How might we create the conditions where it is safe to be vulnerable within the collective? How might we reclaim our connection to the collective? How might we show up as our authentic selves, complete in our humanity, Wrapping with Love?
