Explicit Memory

There are two kinds of memory, explicit and implicit memory. Explicit memory is memory that we consciously utilize. Implicit memory that we unconsciously utilize, for instance, what we call 'body memory' used when riding a bicycle.

Explicit memory, in turn, is comprised of two types of memory, semantic memory and episodic memory.

**Semantic Memory** Semantic memory is where we store ideas and concepts, that allows us to interpret our experience for ourselves and others. We, as _homo sapiens_ are unique in our capacity to create and share the abstract ideas of this type of memory – the meaning of ideas.

**Episodic Memory** Episodic memory are those memories of our life experience, those that often are associated with our senses, known to us through our capacity for interoception – the meaning of feelings, Sensing Valence.

We sense that the ability integrate both episodic and semantic memory lies at the core of Deep Learning, meaning that matters through the stories we tell.

Stories that create Shared Wonderment that inspires a new becoming.
