Cognitive Model

Consciousness uses a cognitive model, a model that is bounded by the experiences of the learner. In this sense, consciousness has a Cognitive Horizon beyond which the learner is not able to make meaning from chaotic information.

Meaning exists within the patterns of concepts within this model.

New meaning is emergent in moments of understanding of patterns, what we might call meta-meaning.

Authentic learning, happens in the liminal edge of a model that is found at the horizon. Learning Confidence is needed to be Dancing at the` Edge.

Here is where we venture into an unknown and experience surprise.

It’s in the making meaning of that surprise that our horizons are expanded.
