Autonoetic Consciousness

As you sit in meditation, one learns to listen to one's thoughts. As you do, you begin to appreciate that the listener to these thoughts can choose not to think, until the listener is aware that they are thinking again.

This meta-listener who becomes aware of thinking can be referred to as our autonoetic consciousness.

If organizations are to operate as vital, living organizations, Autopoietic Systems, it needs to develop the capacity of its own autonoetic consciousness. To be able to better listen to itself.

This intention underpins Ward's current explorations in Recreational Measurement of how to better listen to dynamic data. While he is currently looking at data being drawn from ham radio operators, these techniques can be applied to an organization's data to provide dynamic insight that sparks new questions and adaptive innovation.

We are using autonoetic consciousness to observe the Three States.
